Hello February

Dear Glenwood Family,

February can sometimes be a challenging stretch for students at school. It is the time when expectations become greater and students are expected to do things more independently. Just as we do here at school, please encourage your child to put forth his/her very best effort...even when things get hard. Also, you may want to speak with your child about what it means to advocate for oneself. They should ask questions when they don't understand and ask for help when tasks or assignments become a bit challenging.

Believe it or not, another challenge of February and most other winter months have to do with not being able to go outside for recess! Missing that 30 minutes of fresh air puts a damper on the day for many elementary students. Yes, we have some who don't mind being inside, but most of them want to go out and play. It's always fun to hear the loud cheers in the building when we announce that we will have "OUTDOOR RECESS"!! (Even some of the adults in the building cheer for this announcement.) So, remember to dress your child accordingly because outside recess will still occur as long as it's at least 20 degrees.

No matter the time of year, our goal is to keep your child happy, safe and engaged. We will do everything we can to keep spirits up at school during these gloomy months. If at any time you feel your child needs support beyond this, please let us know. We are here for them!!
